American Whitewater Website
The American Whitewater Website contains a wealth of information on paddling whitewater across the United States. Probably this site’s most important practical contribution to the community is their database of stream sections that contain some form of whitewater. They have a map that shows all the known whitewater runs in the U.S. that can be toggled to show either difficulty/consequence classification or runnability (i.e. too high, too low, or just right). That practical information helps de-mystify the USGS and NOAA stream flow data. The Paddle It! map and/or app will hopefully build on this idea to actually filter by (among other criteria) difficulty and runnability.
There are also pages for each state with known whitewater runs that list all of the streams with data in that state. The American Whitewater App provides much of this info in app form.
